I’m a firm advocate of businesses respecting personal time, regardless of role. We need time to rest, reset, and recharge.
Your Friday office rituals either enable or discourage this. And for most of us, most “urgent” issues can wait til Monday to address.
Good Friday rituals close the loops for the week and set Monday up for early wins.
Close the loops in your inbox (file, respond, trash)
Close the loop on notifications in PM tools, etc.
Close the loop on assigned tasks + projects with status updates for team, clients, and contractors.
Create an early win by deciding on next week’s priority.
Create an early win by creating/reviewing the agenda for Monday’s meeting.
Create an early win by reviewing your upcoming mtgs + appts.
Create an early win by drafting the team memo for Monday. Clarity and direction support your team’s efforts and keep them aligned with the business.
When everyone on the team has Friday rituals for closing loops and setting up early wins, it allows everyone to fully enjoy the weekend.
*Note: This should take a couple of hours, at most. If these rituals take all day, then small tasks are left undone during the week, and compounding.
